This semester has been much more time consuming than I expected. Especially the last few weeks, while we were working on our senior design project. It was hell, but luckily we were able to get some fun out of the situation and enjoy ourselves. This semester has helped learn even more about myself, and although i've had my downs, I've had quite a few ups, and seen everything as a learning and growing experience.

I'm really looking forward to the end of this semester, I'll finally be able to BE a Chemical Engineer, no more classes for me! And I get to start working as and r&d engineer in minnesota: big move and change in my life. But at the same time I'm starting to grow melancholic, realizing all I will be leaving behind, especially the people I have to say goodbye to.

But I'm going to make sure to enjoy the next few weeks as much as possible, make sure to ace all my exams, and try to be happy as much as possible :)

Also, once the semester ends my blogging periodic blogging will be reinitiated :)

As i was watching the Hope for Haiti telemarathon, it was hard not to cry with the stories and images presented, its so sad to see this poor country suffering in the way it is. Haiti suffered greatly before this disaster, so its unbelievable to think these people are suffering even more than ever.

Its great to see us all pull together for such a great cause, trying to bring faith and strength to this country. Although its sad that it took another terrible occurrence to pull us together as a county again, the last time I saw such a unity was after 911. What else must happen for us to finally notice God is sending us these messages in order to get us to unite as one and stop with the hating, discrimination, separation.

So i'm at the hospital because my mom was operated yesterday (she had a kidney stone removed) so me and my dad are spending the day with her. being here to care for her and keep her company, makes me think about the fact that once I leave to minnesota, I won't be able to care for my parents this way, to a certain extent I feel like i'm abandoning them to care for themselves. not only this, but they won't be there to care for me either whenever I get sick. in reality, I won't have anyone in minnesota, zero family and pretty much zero friends.

I am now just starting to see the difficulties of growing up, and I don't want to imagine how hard it is going to be to leave my little island, leaving my family and friends behind :(

So as I sat on my sofa at home, I decided to watch some CNN to get an update on what is happening at Haiti, because while I'm at school during the week I don't watch tv. So when I turn to CNN, they're not talking about the Haiti situation, they're talking about John Edward's child out of wedlock. And at that moment I got so mad, there is more important things going on in the world, yet the media feels the necessity to take an hour to talk about some guy's affair and how his cancer survivor/patient wife is handling the situation.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE pop culture and gossip too, but one must set priorities, and this is something our country lacks. We see the same things day after day, in the newspaper the front page goes to the affair between celebrities, or the murder that occurred in NYC, instead of covering the school who won a worldwide science competition, or the couple who set up a free clinic to help underprivileged children. Plus, we should let these poor public figures figure their crazy lives out instead of being in their face about their private issues.

I know this is a topic many find sensitive, and has been talked about a lot, but today I felt the need to fume about it, because it disgusts me that we ignore the tragedy that is occurring in Haiti, to cover a silly affair of an ex-presidential candidate. Its stupid and petty, and just damn superficial.

What I'm grooving to: Folkin around by Panic at the Disco (I heart this song haha)

So last night as I watched Freaks and Geeks (a show I totally wished they hadn’t cancelled because it is AMAZING =P) I noticed that I could identify with the characters in so many ways! Maybe not as much with the Freaks, but I totally did with the geeks!
In the past year I have been learning a lot about myself, as I’ve found myself trying to analyze my personality, to have a better understanding of why certain things are the way they are in my life, and most importantly to help me identify what the best path seemed to be for myself in regards to my future after college. And one of the things I noticed, both on my own and with the help of others, is that I’m kind of a geek!

A few reasons why I’m a geek:

1. I LOVE Sci-fi stuff!!!! I grew obsessed with Heroes once I starting watching the episodes, it is definitely my favorite show!!! And its not only the fact that I like watching the episodes and remember a lot of the quotes (I have a talent for this haha) but it’s the fact that I analyze every single character and episode, and can go on for hours talking about my analysis and hypothesis haha. And let us not forget the obsession I had with Lord of the Rings, dude I used to wear “the ring” I got from a bookmark around my neck on a chain similar in appearance to Frodo’s; I was such a freak! Plus one of the things I look forward to once I have my own apartment, is being able to frame the map of Middle Earth I have!!! Most people look forward to their own apartment just to have more privacy and be more independent, nop not me, I’m just thinking of my sci-fi ish decoration! Haha. Plus, I am A HUGEEEEE Harry Potter fan!!! Its another topic I can go on for hours, days, months, talking about. I LOVEEEE HP series and even the movies, eve though they’re a bit more shiteous than the books. And I’venever been to a Sci-Fi convention, but the tought of going totally exhilarates me, its something I plan to do in the future.

2. I LOVE playing Rockband (and with the Wii too) !!!! This was my favorite thing of the whole summer! I can go on for hours playing, like my voice might be sounding hoarse and my head is starting to hurt, but this won’t stop me from playing, I LOVE playing! I played for like 8 hours straight the other day! Plus, I would prefer staying at home drining and playing Rockband then going out to the club and dancing. I know that if I was more exposed to video games (playstation, xbox, etc.) I could totally become a video game junkie, like those crazy kids at school haha.

3. As I mentioned before, I LOVE remembering quotes from tv, movies, books, etc. I think its cool, and it gives me the opportunity to have inside jokes with the other people who have actually watched the same thing.

4. On this same line, I LOVE inside jokes! Especially those related to tv shows or movies, and even school subjects (science and engineering haha). I have tons of them with my friends, and a always looking for opportunities to do so.

5. I’m a huge pop culture freak. I watch a lot of tv, read a lot of magazines and blogs and news articles related to pop culture. I know all about the latest gossip, who’s dating who, who dissed who, etc. EVERYONE always notices this about me and calls me out on it haha.

6. I watch a LOT of tv shows. I watch too much tv, and I always end up LOVING at least 80 % of the shows I watch haha.

7. I find “geeky” looking guys attractive :O I totally LOVE guys in glasses, or who are a bit nerdy looking hehe. For example, I used to love Colin Hanks character in Roswell, I love Bill from Freaks and Geeks (he’s hilarious!), I loved Henry in Ugly Betty, etc ... I tend to find guys more attractive when they have an awesome sense of humor or are really smart.

Hence, I am totally a geek. And believe me, the list can go on!

I don’t think its such a bad thing to be a geek, however not everyone appreciates it, especially guys In PR. I think being a geek gives me a bit of personality and distinguishes me from other girls. And in addition to this, I can totally be a “boy” sometimes, meaning I love dirty jokes and that’s what she said jokes, I love talking about poop and nasty stuff haha, and am not phased by boyish topics. And even though a lot of guys would love a gf like this, I always tend to end up being the friend instead of the gf: STORY OF MY LIFE.

Anyways, I came to the conclusion that my goal should be to find a guy who’s geeky like me too =) Let’s see how that goes, because let us remember I have the worst luck with guys, and getting guys to like me …. *SIGH*
